Leverage: how I turned “lazy” into a business advantage

My parents said I wasn’t hardworking enough. Now I use AI to do less and get more done. Here’s how it works.

Hey friends,

Growing up, I was always called lazy.

My Asian parents weren’t mean about it—they just told it like it was:

“You need to be more hardworking.”
“Don’t cut corners.”
“Work hard now, enjoy later.”

And they weren’t wrong.

The key to survival in Singapore is As.

To get into a university.

To get a decent job.

To succeed in life.

But even as a kid in uni, I always asked: “Is there a smarter way to do this?”

I didn’t want to work less. I wanted to work better.
And now—years later, that instinct is how I’m building a one-person business that runs while I’m still working full-time.

The key? Leverage.

What I mean by leverage

Leverage means using tools, systems, and strategy to get more out of less effort.

For me, that looks like:

  • Reusing content in smarter ways

  • Letting AI do the heavy lifting on structure + drafts

  • Automating newsletters and lead magnets

  • Turning writing into assets that work on my behalf

It’s not about avoiding effort.
It’s about choosing which effort matters most—and letting tech handle the rest.

📨 Beehiiv: My behind-the-scenes publishing engine

I run The Juicer on Beehiiv—and it does more than just send emails.

It:

  • Delivers my lead magnets instantly

  • Onboards new subscribers without me lifting a finger

  • Tracks what’s working (so I don’t guess)

  • Sends newsletters while I’m asleep or at work

The hard part is writing.
But once I hit send, Beehiiv runs the system.

That’s leverage.

💬 ChatGPT: My creativity-on-demand assistant

Here’s how I actually get the writing done.

Every issue starts messy.
Fragments of ideas in Notion. Random thoughts from my commute. A half-written post in my head.

Then I open my ChatGPT project: The Juicer Business, where memory already knows:

  • My tone

  • My audience

  • My product stack

  • That I like to start with stories and end with something useful

ChatGPT helps me:

  • Turn notes into outlines

  • Rewrite intros

  • Clean up drafts

  • And make sure I’m still writing like me

It's not perfect. But it's fast.

AND it compounds.

I call my system: ChatOS.

(I’m creating a course now for you to create your own!)

The result: I get to build something on my terms

I still work a full-time job.
I still go on dates. I still have family dinners.
But I also write every week. Grow my list. Launch products. Serve my audience.

Not because I grind harder.
But because I stack leverage.

My parents used to say I wasn’t hardworking enough.
Now? I just smile.

Because I'm working intentionally.
With the help of systems.
And a little AI.

Catch you next week ✌️
